Our "Inner Joseph" (03/27/22)

Friends,

We have begun our campaign on the Joseph story. I have been touched over the last week to hear regular feedback on how this is impacting the spiritual life of our congregation. "I am realizing that I need to do a better job listening to my inner Joseph." "That wasn't a Joseph response! How might I be more like Joseph today?" It has been really uplifting.

In looking through my files this week, I saw a parallel to these descriptions of the internal meaning of the Joseph story in reflections of ministers past. I include them here in the hope that they may inspire you on your journey to the Path of Integrity!

Joseph, then, is the potential angel in us. He symbolizes what is heavenly in our interiors. This is present, powerfully, in each human heart; but it is imprisoned, locked in, as long as [we are primarily focused on the life of the] sensuous plane.

If the Joseph in each of us were released, …we could [begin to] feel this heavenly essence, and we would be utterly moved, transformed, lifted into a world of delights powerfully beyond all death and all human hardness.

Studying Joseph's imprisonment, we are led to see the consequences of shutting up...the treasures given us from heaven. The Lord is then…imprisoned within us, because the heavenly things we have neglected cannot be used by Him to protect us from the sphere of the hells and to lead us toward His purpose in creation. For the Lord to be released…we must do as the chief cupbearer did when he later recalled his sins and remembered Joseph in prison. (Rev. CRJ Smith)

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THIS SUNDAY (03/27/22)

From the Staff Mtg:

Two items from this week's staff meeting, include -

1) After announcing additional filtration for Friendship Hall, units matching those being used in the chapel were purchased. They are now here, and we expect to have them running this week.

2) Recognition and thanks to the Casto family for their continued hard work on the irrigation system by the building.

From Rachael Casto: "Hi all. We put irrigation tubing under ground crossing the driveway in the back drive that is near the gazebo. I think it would be best not to have people driving over it back there if possible. It may crush the irrigation... Thanks Rachael"

We SO appreciate your care of the grounds!

From the Property Manager:

*** Work on Ramada/ Gazebo underway - metal work done; stucco and wood repaired. Painting next (perimeter planting and twinkle lights to follow completion).

*** Medians in parking lot and street side of Friendship Hall are ready for 3” rock mulch= preferably BEFORE the weeds return! Volunteers welcome!

***A Big ” Thank You” to Chip. He has been working his way thru the maintenance y repair list of the Sunrise exterior, with emphasis on electrical safety first. (Exterior now and inside as temps rise)

SRC Board Meeting:

Path of Integrity Small Group:

Due to the Board meeting, we are hoping to start our small group pretty promptly after church. Those who wish to participate, we will be meeting in the Library.
