Preparing for the Lord (11/30/25)

This week, I extracted a sentiment from a message of my grandfather's concerning the life and teaching of John the Baptist (and repentance as essential to spiritual life).  I was particularly moved by its conclusion, which seemed so appropriate to the week beginning our Christmas readings.  We hope you find it similarly uplifting in this special time of year!  Blessings,  Ethan

If we become discouraged at times with the apparently small amount of progress that seems is being made with a sincere effort to repent, let us recall that the re-ordering of the natural mind, and the opening of the spiritual mind by the Lord, is a process that requires many subtle changes and many elaborate formations. The love that is to remain forever the crown of our existence cannot be born in a moment: temptation, struggle and compulsion, must be the means of its growth, until, in that time known to God alone, the love blossoms and bears its fruit in peace and happiness, leaving behind forever the burdens of its birth. 
     

So shall the Lord fulfill the promise Samuel made (1 Samuel 7: 3-15) to the children of Israel, that if they would put away the images of their idolatry, the evil desires and loves of self, He would help them conquer their enemies and bring them finally to the peace and happiness which are the rewards of our strife.  (Schnarr, NCL 1957)

Due to changing schedules for Christmas season, TODAY will be our Arizona Mountain Camp lunch opportunity.  Join with us after church for a yummy BBQ lunch and donate to a worthy cause (if you can!)

Serving Those Experiencing Food Insecurity (Ongoing)

In this time of unique need, Sunrise Chapel has decided to host a Food Hope Chest at the end of our drive with meal kits for families experiencing food insecurity.  We are asking for the following non-perishable food items: 
 Spaghetti kit (incl. noodles and sauce)

Alfredo kit (incl. noodles and sauce)
Progresso soups 
Ramen
Canned Chicken 
Cases of Water

SRC 2025 Christmas Readings Small Group! (Starting 12/2)

Part of our tradition each year at Christmas time is to have a small group read from the Christmas story each day of December and reflect on its meaning for our spiritual life.  This year, Kim and Claudia-Wood Osmus have volunteered to host a weekly group to encourage each other in reading, reflection and spiritual task work.  We hope you will join us (beginning in December) on the 2nd, the 9th, the 16th, and the 23rd @ 7pm for these group sessions.

Ginger Bread House Making - After Church Activity (12/07/25)

In the Spirit of the Season, there will be a group providing materials and support for the making of our own gingerbread houses after church the first Sunday in December.  Bring your patience, creative side, and a willingness to work as a team to a table after service (on 12/7) and let's see how creative you are!  JOIN US!
