God's Help with Life's Changes - David Lindrooth, Guest Preacher Churches are to help us with change, an inevitable part of life. We are to help people with spiritual change, eventually supporting one’s transition into
eternal life (certainly sacred work). Welcome our Regional Pastor, David Lindrooth! He will be leading the service this Sunday.

Labyrinth Installation Success!
|
"You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy." (Psalms)
"A labyrinth is a space for prayer in motion, a moving meditation." Tryn
Rose Seley
Sunrise Chapel now has a labyrinth! Last Saturday about a dozen people came to finish the planning and installation of a labyrinth just east of the chapel, near the beginning of the Path of Faith. It is easy to find and very accessible because it is right near the northeast corner of the parking
lot.
The labyrinth is a beautiful addition to the other paths at Sunrise Chapel! It has many special rocks from people who have brought some of their own to be a part of this special space, including a large collection from Audrey Wann and other very
special rocks from Johanna Von Mayr. Each of these ladies has been rock collecting for many years. We also welcome anyone - as part of this community project - to bring one of your own rocks and place it anywhere along the path.
Last Sunday we had a wonderful, interactive church service that focused on the path of life and
walking with the Lord, complete with two testimonials and special music, to help introduce the idea of walking a labyrinth as an opportunity for "prayer in motion". After the service, many people went outside for a "test drive" and to dedicate it with their own feet.
Thanks again to all the people who dreamed of a labyrinth on the grounds, helped with planning, and everyone who worked on the installation of the labyrinth. Special thanks to Tryn Rose Seley and Marjorie Grubb for their expertise, love, education, and support. ~

And thank you to our local leaders - Kelly Woofenden and Elise Gladish! WAY TO GO EVERYONE!! Love, Nathan

Chapel "Refresh" Continues
|
The team working with the generous financial grant from the Asplundh Foundation is pleased to report that the new carpet will be installed in the sanctuary, the vestry meeting room, and the bride's room the week of October 17th!!
In addition, a new hearing aid system will be installed in the chapel so that anyone with hearing aids can easily pick up audio through this special system. This system is being donated to Sunrise Chapel as a generous gift of Cheri Reynolds in honor of her husband George. It is being coordinated with the installation of the new carpet, since the "audio loop/wire" needs to be underneath the carpet.
Repair and painting of the chapel interior walls is continuing. Next up will be updating the foyer flooring, and the ceilings and lighting in both the foyer and the vestry.

Readings for this Sunday's
Service
|
Revelation 21:1-5 (New International Version)
Then I saw “a new heaven
and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There
will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Ezekiel 36: 24-28 (New International Version)
This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the Israelites: "'I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I
will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.'"
True Christianity 530 (New Century Edition) The question is, How are
we to repent? The answer is, we are to do so actively. That is, we are to examine ourselves, recognize and admit to our sins, pray to the Lord, and begin a new life. Repentance is not possible without examining ourselves. And what is the point of examining ourselves unless we recognize our sins? What is the point of that recognition unless we admit that those sins are in us? What is the point of all three of these steps unless we confess our sins before the Lord, pray for his help, and then
begin a new life, which is the purpose of the whole exercise? This is active repentance.
"Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it."
