Sunday Worship Service October 2 @ 11 AM
|
Walking the Path of Life We are each - and all of us - on a path of eternal life. Every path and each person's experience of it is unique. And yet, with our invitation, the Lord can help us find the path that suits us best and
then lead us along the way. As Jesus said, "I am the way." This Sunday come explore this a bit, and also help us dedicate our new labyrinth!
Lots of activities to get involved in at Sunrise Chapel!
- Tomorrow - Saturday, October 1 - is Labyrinth Installation Day (see below). Not only will we be constructing, but we will also
have a little inauguration. Then on Sunday, October 2, our service will focus on "The Path of Life" and include a time for anyone/everyone to learn more about the labyrinth and its use in relation to prayer and spiritual growth.
- Also tomorrow - Saturday, Oct. 1 - WEEDING HOUR! 8:30-9:30 AM. The ground is damp, the temperature is mild, the perfect conditions for socializing while weeding! Bring a hula hoe if you have one.
- SPRUCING UP THE CHAPEL - We are making progress in plans for sprucing up the chapel, the foyer and the adjacent meeting room (vestry). Painting in the chapel is continuing, carpeting has been selected, and porcelain tile for the foyer has been chosen. The week of October 17 is
scheduled for carpet removal and installation. If you have any questions or would like to help, please talk with Elise Gladish who is the overall leader of this project.
- Frank Rose and Judith Keane are continuing to hold a Spiritual
Growth Group on Wednesday nights at 7 pm (see below). Each week is a different topic, so if you are interested, you can drop in and check it out.
- The New Church Foundations Class is going well. (This is the "101 level" course on the teachings and history of our church - globally and locally - see below). It's a great group of spiritual explorers and we are having very interesting conversations about important theological topics. This session
is now closed to new participants. However, if you have taken the course before and missed a session or two, then you are most welcome to drop in for a refresher or "make up" any sessions you missed.
If you are interested in taking this course on a different schedule, talk to me.
THANK YOU! I am tickled to see many people taking interest in a variety of activities, and taking on tasks to support upcoming events. It's an honor to be part of this community, and I look forward to every opportunity for us to work together to help Sunrise Chapel thrive.
With love and respect, Nathan

Labyrinth Installation Day -
Tomorrow - October 1 at 10 am
|
"You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy." (Psalms)
What is a Labyrinth? "A labyrinth is a prayer in motion, a moving meditation. It's not a maze, where you
have to figure out which way to go. It's a path that leads you in to the center and back out again. While walking, one can pray a sentence of scripture, or simply call the Lord to mind, or celebrate a joy, or share a concern as you move through the space."
Thank you, Tryn for sharing this simple explanation. We are excited to be adding this feature to our grounds, on the East side of the Chapel
under a canopy of trees. Check it out!!
INSTALLATION DAY! Saturday, October 1st beginning at 10 AM will be the labyrinth installation. We welcome ANYONE / EVERYONE to participate! We invite
participants to bring a stone of your own as a way of contributing your spirit and energy to the space. Any size and shape up to the size of a grapefruit. We want this labyrinth to be a community project to create a place of peace and mindfulness for all to enjoy.
DEDICATION DAY!
Sunday, October 2nd as part of the 11 AM worship service. As mentioned above, this worship service will focus on the ideas from the Word about walking the path of eternal life. At the end of the service, everyone who wants to in invited to gather at the labyrinth for a brief, informal dedication.
If you have any ideas or want to be part of this project,
talk to the local leaders - Kelly Woofenden and Elise Gladish - or just show up!
If you are interested in this, YOU are already part of the team!!

Regarding Walking the Path of Life
Secrets of Heaven 519 Walk is a figure of speech for living, in such phrases as walk in the law, walk in the statutes, and walk in truth. At its most basic level, walking has to do with a path, and a path relates to truth and consequently to faith, or to the doctrine concerning faith. What walking symbolizes in the Word can be
established to some extent from the following passages. In Micah: He has pointed out to you, friend, what is good; and what is Jehovah requiring of you but to carry out judgment and the love of mercy and to be humble walking with your God? (Micah 6:8) Walking with God here symbolizes living — living by the things “pointed out.” In David: You rescued my feet from tripping, to walk before God in the light of the living. (Psalms 56:13) Walking before God
means walking in religious truth — the “light of the living.”
Divine Providence 60 The angelic heaven is one of the things we need to know about. Every religious person thinks about it and wants to go there. Heaven, though, is granted only to people who know the path to it and follow that path. We can know the path to heaven to some extent simply by considering what the people who
make up heaven are like, realizing that no one can become an angel or get to heaven unless he or she arrives bringing along some angelic quality from the world. Inherent in that angelic quality is a knowing of the path from having walked it and a walking in the path from the knowing of it. There really are paths in the spiritual world, paths that lead to each community of
heaven and to each community
of hell. We all see our own paths, spontaneously, it
seems. We see them because the paths there are for the loves of each individual. Love opens the paths and leads us to our kindred spirits.
"Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it."
