Sunday Worship Service November 6 @ 11 AM

Understand One Another - Nathan Gladish
I'm continuing this series of services on "One Another" The first was Honoring One Another, last week was Pray for One Another, and this week is about Understanding One Another.
To show understanding is to be empathic, a very important part of quality human interaction. Empathy is very different than sympathy, a level shift up that involves genuine compassion.
Holy Supper this Sunday - As an integral part of our
worship service, the Holy Supper will be served. You do not need to be a member to participate. It is an open invitation from the Lord to experience a closeness to Him through a symbolic act of eating and drinking, just as the Apostles did at the Last Supper.
PROGRESS CONTINUES!
I'm still basking in the glow of our continuing efforts to dress up the place and make it more welcoming! This past week, James and Stephanie continued cleaning and painting in the kitchens, and they are looking neater and brighter! Last Saturday we had our first wedding with the new carpet installed, and today we will have another. There is a warm and inviting feeling to the spaces that have been improved, and there is more to come!!
Thank you to everyone for your support in these meaningful and significant improvements!!
With love and respect, Nathan

Frank Rose - Book Signing this Sunday
|
Frank is having a book signing this Sunday, November 6 at Sunrise Chapel from 12:15-1:00. He will have new books and old ones plus
note cards for sale.
Three new books are...
"Bo and the Fly-Away Kite" by Virginia Ames, illustrated by Frank.
"Growth
Pain and Pleasure" his story as a pastor.
"More Wildflowers and Trees" containing photographs of plants not included in "Mountain Wildflowers" or "Mountain Trees."

|
For a variety of reasons, the Fall Craft Sale and
Boutique is officially postponed. It was scheduled for November 4 & 5, but with only 7 crafters signed up and a small number of volunteer helpers, it seemed wise to re-think the event and try something else another time.
Interested in discussing
a future event? Contact Cheri or Christine.

NEW LOOK—LIKE NEW! Thanks to a generous grant from the Asplundh
Family Foundation, our beloved Chapel is looking Grand! With new carpet, fresh paint, upgraded baseboards and the removal of the old organ and speakers, the chapel has a new, clean look! The meeting room (Vestry) now has wall-to-wall carpet for the first time, and the bride’s room in Friendship Hall has also been re-carpeted. Take a look around! It all looks beautiful!
THANK YOU to the many people who helped with this phase of the project, including the Asplundh Grant team members, a few generous independent donors, and the many workers and volunteers who put in a lot of their time, ingenuity, and love to get this phase of the work finished. Well done, everyone!
NEW HEARING AID SYSTEM Thank you to Cheri Reynolds, in honor of her husband George, for the generous gift of a new hearing aid sound system which was just installed under the new carpet in the chapel. Now anyone with hearing aids properly programmed can easily pick up anything that is
broadcast through the sound system. Amazing! We also have four personal headsets for those without hearing aids. Take it for a test drive! The more people who appreciate its value, the better!
NEXT PHASE The entry ways for the Chapel and Friendship Hall
will get new tile flooring! The ceilings and lighting in the Chapel foyer and vestry will be upgraded! The team hopes to have this work completed by the holidays.

Mondays at 6:30 in the Children's Chapel
This Monday, Nov. 7, the topic will be session six - "Serving the Needs of Others". Nov. 14 will be on "Church Background" including "Who was Emanuel Swedenborg?"
If you took the course before, you are free to join us, or if you want to "make up" a couple of meetings you missed in a previous series, you are welcome to drop in.
This 7-week series of classes / small groups highlights the main teachings of our church, and helps give insight into what the New Church movement and the global organization is all about. If you can't attend this series or you prefer a daytime meeting, let me know, and we will coordinate something to suit your needs.

Next Planning Meeting -- Sunday, November 13 during lunch
This coming March 24-26, 2017 will be the 30th anniversary month of the dedication of Sunrise Chapel!! Let's celebrate!
Thank you to Betsy Gladish for volunteering to be our cheerleader! Last Sunday we had a very enthusiastic group of people narrowing down options for activities and honing in on who can do what. The plan is for Friday to focus on
celebrating "Sunrise Chapel's past." Saturday will feature "our present." And Sunday will be an invitation to consider "our future."
The next planning meeting will be Sunday, November 13 during lunch Contact Betsy Gladish with your ideas, thought, and questions.
