Encourage One Another - Nathan Gladish
I've been enjoying this series on "One Another." I hope you have too! The first was Honoring One Another, then Pray for One Another, and last week was Understand One Another.
This Sunday let's look at "Encouragement." One of the ways to love one another is to offer encouragement, which literally means to inspire with courage, spirit, or hope. Good coaches are known for being encouraging. I'm thinking we could all use a healthy dose of it right about now.

Care For Our Church Morning this Saturday - Believe it or not, we need to start preparing for our annual Path to Bethlehem, which is just 3 weeks away! Thank you to Billie Baty for starting to call folks about being in the cast and crew. Tomorrow we will start prepping the sets and the areas where the scenes will be. There is also weeding, raking and tree trimming along the path. Come for a hour or for the morning! If you can't make it tomorrow, there will be other opportunities!

30th Anniversary Meeting this Sunday - We will continue working together on honing plans for this big event in March! Thank you to everyone who has already shared your enthusiasm and ideas.

PAINTING PROGRESS CONTINUES!
I'm happy to say that James and Stephanie have continued brightening up the paint job in Friendship Hall. Last week they repainted the interiors of all the wooden doors. NICE WORK!!
Thank you to everyone for your support in these meaningful and significant improvements!!

With love and respect,
Nathan

Thanksgiving Church Service - Nov. 20 and Luncheon
Our Thanksgiving church service will be held on Sunday, November 20 with a deluxe Luncheon afterwards. (No service on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.)
There is a sign-up sheet in the Chapel lobby to let the organizers know who is coming and what they are bringing.
Please sign up in advance and/or let Carol know what your plans are!!
This is a "covered dish" luncheon, so you are invited to bring something to share.

Annual Path to Bethlehem - Saturday December 3 from 6-8 pm
Here is a photo - from a previous year - of the manger scene getting set up. Our beloved Path to Bethlehem is coming up very soon, and I am looking forward to it being as wonderful and magical as ever!
Please consider how YOU can help make this event special - by helping get things set up, baking cookies, putting up lights, being an actor or guide, or any of the many behind the scenes parts.

Talk with Billie who is helping line up the cast and crew.
Or talk with Elise about specific roles and costumes.
Or talk with me about anything else!!
May the Lord bless this special event once again, and may it continue to serve our church and community.
With anticipation and love,
Nathan

Frank Rose - Book Signing last Sunday
Frank's book signing went well! And since he offered to share 20% of the proceeds with Sunrise Chapel, that added about $40 to our general fund. Thank you, Frank!
It was wonderful to see and peruse his new books:
"Bo and the Fly-Away Kite" by Virginia Ames, illustrated by Frank.
"Growth Pain and Pleasure" his story as a pastor.
"More Wildflowers and Trees" containing photographs of plants not included in "Mountain Wildflowers" or "Mountain Trees."
If you missed the signing, just contact Frank for an individual appointment.

CHAPEL UPGRADES!
MORE ABOUT THE NEW HEARING AID SYSTEM
Several people have started using the new "T - Coil" audio loop system in our chapel and say that they can hear much better! We also have 4 personal headsets for those without hearing aids that work with the system.
What I'm told is that one easy way to find out if your hearing aids are compatible is to ask your audiologist if your aids have a "T - Coil" switch. If so, you just need to turn it on in any venue that offers the technology. And you also have to be "in the loop" - In our case, that is almost anywhere in the chapel as long as you are 2 feet or more away from the walls and 2 feet away from the chancel.

Thank you, also, to Jason, one of our young adults who knows a TON about sound systems. Jason is adjusting and improving aspects of our Chapel sound system - to make everything work more smoothly and consistently. I am grateful! And I hope you notice the improvements! Nathan

New Church Foundations Class
Mondays at 6:30 in the Children's Chapel
This Monday, Nov. 14, the topic will be session seven on "Church Background" including "Who was Emanuel Swedenborg?"

It's been delightful to connect with each other in this group over the weeks we have been meeting. Such a great opportunity to explore basic questions together.

If you took the course before, you are free to join us, or if you want to "make up" a couple of meetings you missed in a previous series, you are welcome to drop in.

This 7-week series of classes / small groups highlights the main teachings of our church, and helps give insight into what the New Church movement and the global organization is all about.

If you can't attend this series or you prefer a daytime meeting, let me know, and we will coordinate something to suit your needs.
Nathan

Thirtieth Anniversary Planning Continues
Next Planning Meeting -- Sunday, November 13 during lunch

This coming March 24-26, 2017 will be the 30th anniversary month of the dedication of Sunrise Chapel!! Let's celebrate!

I'm grateful that we have a very enthusiastic group of people narrowing down options for activities and honing in on who can do what. The plan is for Friday to focus on celebrating "Sunrise Chapel's past." Saturday will feature "our present." And Sunday will be an invitation to consider "our future."

The next planning meeting will be Sunday, November 13 during lunch
Bring your ideas, thought, and questions.
