As preparation for this Sunday's message, Frank Rose suggests that you note the indignation you feel when something is not fair. What is the energy that makes us so upset at injustice?
This Sunday June 25, Frank Rose will preach
for me while I am attending the General Church Council of the Clergy meetings in Bryn Athyn, PA.
These professional meetings are winding down today - Friday. They have been very stimulating, both intellectually and as an opportunity for collegiality. And I am still quite wrapped up in them, so I don't have time to share much right now. I will just say that I am
among colleagues who care deeply about our church - the New Church overall, and the General Church as a global organization, and of course each person cares so much about each congregation and each area of ministry. It is enlightening and encouraging to engage in the discussion of scholarship and the questions of practical application. I will be coming home with new perspective and a new sense of enthusiasm for the work of our beloved local Sunrise Chapel.
I will return Monday night, June 26, and I look forward to resuming the Worship Team meetings this Wednesday at 9:30 am. If you are interested in discussing the upcoming messages in Sunday services with a vibrant small group, come to the my office. Any questions? Contact me anytime.
Holy Supper next Sunday -
July 2 In keeping with our custom of serving the Holy Supper the first Sunday of every other month, you are invited to participate at the end of the service next Sunday, July 2.
With love and respect, Nathan

As an example of what this small group is focusing on, below is the task for this week. Tuesday nights at 6:30 - 8:00 pm (no meeting on July 4) In the Children's
Chapel
Task 5 Letting Go of Resentment Notice if feelings of resentment against another person (or group of people) is getting in the way of your peace of mind. See what you can do to let go of the resentment. Another word for this is forgiveness, which does not mean that
you approve of what the person has done, but that you retire from being the judge and jury over their life.
Note: We will not meet on July 4. Love, Frank Rose

One way to practice spiritual care is to pray for others. Anyone can do this any time, AND we have a team of people who volunteer to pray about any requests. When you have any prayer request, we invite you to write it down and put it in the “Prayer Box” or send it to prayerrequests@sunrisechapel.org. All are welcome to join the prayer team.

Friday Evenings This is new and going forward even in the heat! One family is setting aside about an hour each Friday evening to do spruce-up projects on the church property. They welcome anyone to join them. A big SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to the Castos for all the landscaping and other tidying they have already
done, a little bit at a time. Join them Friday evenings starting at about 5:45 (depending on the weather). It’s amazing how much they have accomplished! The property looks better each time they come! Just check in with me or Rachael on Friday to confirm the plans for the evening. Nathan

The Parable of Workers in the Vineyard Matthew 20:1-16 (NIV) “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent
them into his vineyard. “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ So they went. “He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’ “‘Because no one has
hired us,’ they answered. “He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’ “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’ “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. When they
received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’ “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own
money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’ “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not
delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
Divine Providence #323 (Swedenborg) The ultimate purpose of creation is a heaven from the human race.. . .. (a) Everyone is created to live forever. (b) Everyone is created to live forever in a blessed state. (c)
This means that everyone is created to go to heaven. (d) Divine love cannot do otherwise than intend this and divine wisdom cannot do otherwise than provide for this.
