The Joy of Spiritual Caring - part 3
|
|
Encourage Each Other The Lord's message to "Love one another" is a general directive that can be practiced in many different ways. This Sunday I'll continue a series I started several weeks ago on the joys of spiritual caring. Being an encourager is a way of showing
love. And there are two things, especially, that our teachings describe as being very important to encouragement - fostering hope and trust.
This series is an effort to help us take a spiritual growth task and apply it in two ways - first to ourselves individually and secondly extending it outwardly in ways to show care to others. I hope you can come and
participate! There is a saying, "By ourselves, we are each a drop, but together we are an ocean." Let's enjoy showing each other care and be part of the ripple of passing it along.
Back from Vacation Elise and I had a great time visiting my brothers and sisters and their spouses. In fact, it went so well, everyone said we ought to do it again soon! We
feel blessed. And we are also blessed to be back home with our Sunrise Chapel family.
Luncheon this Sunday Thank you to Cheri Reynolds and her crew for planning another delicious meal for everyone this Sunday. And thank you to everyone who volunteers to help with set up and clean up. It is really a community event, and I
continue to be delighted that we pull it off every Sunday.
Serve More People Team Meeting - this Sunday How can we, as a congregation of caring people, serve the Lord best? This is something a team is discussing in occasional meetings. Last year we focused on serving
people through the Celebration of the Chapel’s 30th Anniversary! This year we are brainstorming ways to increase our care—for each other and for those beyond our small group. Join us this Sunday, July 16 after the luncheon for this continued conversation and planning.
With love and respect, Nathan

When you are at the Chapel, please help yourself to a Sunrise Chapel phone directory, fresh off the press! We do our best to make it as accurate and up-to-date as possible, AND we rely on you for any corrections or changes! Please let Élise or me know about any changes as soon as possible. We expect to mail
this out to members who live a distance or who don’t attend regularly. Note that this directory is for church community-building, keeping up connections, and encouraging healthy relationships. Thank you for not using it to engage in any kind of non church-related business or marketing or solicitation. ~Nathan

Jeremiah 17:7,8 The Lord says, “Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
Encourage One Another Hebrews 3:12-15 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share
in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
The Importance of Hope and Trust Secrets of Heaven 6097 (Emanuel Swedenborg) All spiritual trials appear to be evil because they are inner feelings of anxiety and distress, and of seeming doom. For at such times we are thrown into a state involving our own evils, as a
consequence of which we are in the midst of evil spirits who make accusations and thereby torment one's conscience. But the angels still protect each of us, that is, the Lord does so through the angels. The Lord preserves in us a sense of hope and trust, which are fighting strengths from within that enable us to offer resistance.
Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep
it.
