Which do you want, scarcity or abundance?
|
|
November is a time I think a lot about gratitude - A few friends of mine are keeping a gratitude journal on Facebook, posting one a day. It's uplifting to read each message. And it reminds me how grateful I am for so many blessings. It also gets me
thinking about scarcity - either in my life or in the lives of others - and how a fear of scarcity can get in the way of appreciating God's blessings. Let's explore this together on Sunday!
Fundraiser Concert - Eduardo Costa - November 12 at 2:30 pm This Sunday!! I'm really looking forward to Eduardo's awesome live classical guitar concert - here at Sunrise Chapel. Although Eduardo plays regularly at other local venues throughout the year, and he has concerts out of town, Sunrise Chapel is his exclusive venue for Tucson concerts. He is billing
this as his best concert ever! Set aside Sunday, November 12 for a wonderful afternoon concert starting at 2:30 pm.
Only 21 Days till Our Path to Bethlehem!! Reminder: Our well-loved, annual, outdoor live nativity - the Path to Bethlehem - will be held on the first Saturday of December. That's December 2,
2017. Just 4 weeks away! Please set aside that date for this very special public event. A wonderful way to welcome the Christmas season.
WANTED: HOMEMADE COOKIES FOR THE PATH TO BETHLEHEM In honor of our “Cookie Lady,” Fran Blaesing, we are continuing the tradition of offering homemade goods to
everyone who attends this special event. If you want to contribute to this fun service project (either with baked goods or funds towards supplies) talk with Cheri Reynolds.
With love and respect, Nathan

The Front "Monument" Garden overhaul
|
|
Boy Scouts renovating the front garden WELL DONE! Thank you to one of our Boy Scouts, Jace
Graffam, and his crew of Boy Scouts, parents, grandparents and other volunteers! They literally left no stone unturned. Hundreds of rocks were removed and replaced into a new, purposeful design. It was not just a labor of love, it was hard work - but with real collaboration, cooperation, and a sense of fun. Thank you, also, to Rod at Arizona Zenscapes for the donation of a very detailed and useful architectural drawing for the area. NEXT STEPS
The next phase is to add irrigation and plants that are butterfly and hummingbird-friendly. A short meandering path will complete the new design. DONATIONS WELCOME
Take a look at the drawing
in the Chapel lobby! If you like the plans and want to contribute to beautifying our entrance, any amount will help buy irrigation supplies, plants, and materials for the path.

Invest in Spiritual Wealth -- THIS SUNDAY AT 9:30
|
|
A Small Group Study based on a book by Michael Brown Sunday, November 12 from 9:30-10:45 AM in Sunrise Chapel Library This Sunday will be the second meeting for continued discussion of this topic. Susan Cooper will lead it.
All welcome, whether you attended the first meeting or not. We have the means to be spiritually wealthy. Webster's says the original definition of wealth was “well-being.” The Bible and the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg teach us how to increase our spiritual well-being -- spiritual wealth. You will receive your own copy of “A Guide
to Spiritual Wealth.” It will be our guide for a discussion about how we are blessed by the spiritual wealth in our lives.

A Wealth of Fascinating Videos for Discussion - Mondays at 2 pm
|
|
WE ARE STILL MEETING WEEKLY! Join us for a fascinating look at various spiritual topics. Each video is packed with material for discussion. Our
resources are video podcasts by two friends, Curtis Childs and Jonathan Rose. These two (and their amazing support team) are producing great programs to spread really helpful information from a Swedenborgian perspective (1) about how to handle life’s ups and downs and (2) about understanding the Bible.
Each Monday we view parts of an episode from Curtis Childs’ You Tube Channel called “offTheLeftEye”. We hit pause many times throughout each meeting to share questions and ideas with each other. It's really educational and also just fun. Each video is fast-paced, information-packed, down-to-earth at the same time as being uplifting and
“spiritual.” He has so many thought-provoking shows on different topics and
of various lengths of time. Currently we are focusing on a few of these episodes.
Join the study and fun! Weekly meetings on Monday at 2 pm at Sunrise Chapel. ~Nathan

Readings/lessons for
Reflection
|
This is a longer reading than I normally put here, but it's just delightful. I encourage you to read and reflect on the abundance of the Lord's blessings. Nathan
A Psalm of Praise to God. A Psalm of David Psalm 65 Praise awaits you, our God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled. You who answer prayer, to you all people will come. When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions. Blessed are
those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple. You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, who formed
the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations. The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy. You
care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it. You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops. You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. The grasslands of the wilderness overflow; the hills
are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.
