Jesus, the Master Fisherman

Every time I study this Bible story, I catch new things in it The Lord knew where the fish were... on the right side. Of course! Why didn't the disciples think of that?! But the story isn't just about disciples or fishing or nets. It's about where we choose to cast
our attention. So often we "take a side" and stick to it relentlessly. The Lord invites us to explore things from another side and be more productive.

NEW LOCATION! This July we will hold our summer family camp at the Arizona Elks Youth Camp - 40 miles Northeast of Globe, Arizona The site is managed by the Arizona Elks Lodge to benefit children. We will have the camp to ourselves for the week, so we get to decide the schedule and program.
This location is in pine woods in the Tonto National Forest, northeast of Roosevelt Lake reservoir at an elevation of about 5,600 ft. It has good creature comforts, such as excellent kitchen facilities, bunk houses, full showers, and flush toilets. If you have an RV,
you are welcome to use it, or you can tent camp if you prefer.
We will be making this camp very affordable, especially for families with children. The main costs will be food and transportation.
MAP: From Tucson, the drive to camp is about 3 hours and 15 minutes. Here is a link to a page of maps. http://www.elks4kids.org/campmap.html
WEBSITE: http://www.elks4kids.org/camp.html
You Tube video: https://youtu.be/LSRQUgVCMhc
We have reserved the camp from Friday, July 13 through Sunday, July 22. You can come up for a
portion of that time or enjoy and relax the whole week.
Anyone is invited to be part of the planning team. Linda Waddell has offered to organize meal planning and preparation.

Jesus Gives His Disciples a Fishing Tip John 21:1-14 (New International Version) Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way: Simon Peter,
Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was
Jesus. He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” “No,” they answered. He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number
of fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards. When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there
with fish on it, and some bread. Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to
them, and did the same with the fish. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
The Spiritual Significance of Fishing Apocalypse Explained 600 - Swedenborg It is written in the Gospel of John: "Jesus said to the disciples who were fishing, 'Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.' When they did, they were no longer able to haul the net in because of the large number of fish". Since "fishing" signifies in the Word the instruction and conversion of people who are in external or natural
good, "fish" signifying the things of the natural and "boat" doctrine from the Word; therefore "the right side of the boat" signifies the good of life.
"Cast the net on the right side of the boat" meant that they should teach the good of life.
Anyone can see that the Lord would not have commanded them "to
cast the net on the right side of the ship" unless the "right side" had been symbolic.
