The Lord's Prayer #2 - Our Daily Bread This Sunday Pastor Emeritus, Frank Rose, will continue his series of sermons on The Lord's Prayer while I am traveling for the Council of the Clergy meetings. In fact, while I am out of town this summer for several reasons, Frank will lead several
other services, and each time he will take up another aspect of The Lord's Prayer. Here is his schedule and the topics: June 17 - The Lord’s Prayer July 1 - Our Daily Bread July 8 - Forgive us July 15 - Deliver us August 19 - Praise

Selecting a new Executive Bishop for our Global Church This week the Council of the Clergy for our global church organization has been meeting in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania for annual professional meetings. One of the key items of business has been the process of electing a new Executive Bishop who will take office in July 2019.
There has been robust discussion all week and a very careful, prayerful, process has been facilitated. Yesterday (Thursday) the Clergy voted to affirm one member as the candidate, and today the Board of Directors will consider this decision. Assuming that person is affirmed by the Board of Directors, the next step will be to share the information about the candidate with the Corporation Meeting on Saturday afternoon. If all proceeds as planned, the name of the candidate will be announced to the
general public through an email around 4 pm Eastern time on Saturday, June 30. The candidate will train for the position until the current Executive Bishop, Brian Keith, retires (in June 2019). Six candidates were nominated earlier in the year. You can read about each of the candidates on www.newchurch.org. Either go to the home page and look for the button "Bishop
Selection Information" or go directly to this link: https://newchurch.org/home-engrave/bishop-selection-information/ These are the names of the candidates (in alphabetical order): Erik Buss Peter Buss, Jr. Glenn "Mac" Frazier Bradley Heinrichs David
Lindrooth Derrick Lumsden About 90 ministers in our denomination have gathered for these meetings from many countries throughout the world. Four whole-group sessions were scheduled over three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) dedicated to the selection process, but that wasn't enough, so we added another session on Thursday. Today a follow-up interview with the selected nominee is on the
schedule. The nomination is now in the hands of the General Church Board of Directors who will be meeting this afternoon and Saturday morning. Assuming all goes according to plans, I will e-mail you (this list) on Saturday at around 4 pm Eastern time with the name of the candidate.
Thinking of you all with love and
respect, Nathan

Update on Arizona Mountain Camp July 13-22,
2018
|
Registration Form: The registration form is now available at the church (in the lobby) and on Sunrise Chapel.org.
THEME: "Choosing Joy in the Forest!" The first weekend of our Arizona Mountain Camp this year will be "traditional" in terms of activities we have enjoyed in
previous years - worshiping together, crafts, small groups, etc. Since we are featuring the new "card deck" of 52 spiritual growth task cards, I am proposing that we have an overall theme of "Choosing Joy." And here are suggested daily themes, each of which will relate to one spiritual growth task per day: Friday, July 13: In The Woods Saturday, July 14: The Wildlife Sunday, July 15: The Mountains Monday, July 16: The
Trails
If you want a more relaxed, more informal, and reflective experience come up anytime Monday afternoon, July 16 through Sunday
afternoon, July 22. This will be a time for anyone, especially parents and grandparents with young children, to enjoy community with activities planned as the spirit moves people. Location: The camp is about 150 miles from Sunrise Chapel, about 45 miles north of Globe. Workman's Creek is part of the watershed that empties into the Salt River Valley below and then forms Roosevelt Lake. The road that ascends from the Salt River in the valley to the campground reminds me of going up Mt. Lemmon before there were any guardrails. Beautiful vistas. The final mile to the camp is on a lightly maintained dirt road (approximately 1 mile). Map: From Sunrise Chapel, the drive to camp is at least 3 hours and 15 minutes depending on the condition of the roads. Here is a link to a page of maps. http://www.elks4kids.org/campmap.html Elks Lodge information: http://www.elks4kids.org/camp.html You Tube video: https://youtu.be/LSRQUgVCMhc We have reserved the camp from Friday, July 13 through Sunday, July 22. Anyone is invited to be part of the planning team. Linda Waddell has offered to organize meal planning and preparation. Christine Morey has offered to be the Camp Director.
The registration form is completed.
You can download it from our website sunrisechapel.org or pick one up at the church. Nathan

CONGRATULATIONS! We met
both our Matching Fund goals!
|
|
Last Sunday we received a $120 donation towards the current Asplundh Foundation Fund match. With that donation we have completed our part of the proposal! THANK YOU ALL for your support!
I am very happy to say that the Asplundh Foundation is gifting us with $9,250. Adding our match of $1,500 will give us $10,750 for the projects described in the original proposal. One of the projects this grant will fund is the equipment and various subscriptions to live stream our church services. Recently we made a big step toward that goal by completing the 3-month construction and installation of new high speed internet service. Technically, we now have the upload speed that we need to
stream HD video without buffering. The next step is to research and purchase the various pieces of equipment and online subscriptions that are best suited to our situation.
Note: June 30 is the end of our fiscal year — a very good time to show your support with an extra donation to our
general operating budget - if you can.
If you write a check, make it to Sunrise Chapel. Please note which fund you are contributing towards. Or you could use Pay Pal to make a one-time or monthly donation. Go to www.sunrisechapel.org and click on the Give
tab.

Readings for this
Sunday's church service

Isaiah 55:2,3,10,11 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not
bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. As the rain and the snow come down from
heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
John 6:35, 36, 47-51 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. . . . Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors
ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
Secrets
of Heaven §8410 Bread symbolizes the good that is present in a heavenly life . . . In a spiritual sense bread means the main quality nourishing the soul and preserving its spiritual life. This quality is a loving goodness, as can be seen from the life force of heaven,
which consists exclusively in that kind of goodness.
