Healthy relationships have healthy boundaries I introduced the general topic of boundaries in relationships last Sunday. This Sunday I want to offer some more thoughts on maintaining good boundaries. See below for a few readings in the Bible and in Swedenborg's
writings. I hope you can come and participate! NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER - When Lauren A is unavailable because of her face painting gigs, Lissette G will teach the children during Sunday School. We look forward to having her on board and helping! If you have any questions, please
contact Elise Gladish, our Sunday School Coordinator.
New Children's Talk Series - the Biblical story of the Prophet Elijah Last Sunday we started a new series of Children's Talks on the subject of the prophet Elijah. The first one was about him being fed in the wilderness in a miraculous way. This second one will be
about him being fed by a widow in a different miraculous way.
Speaking of Children - TEEN TIME!!Most Friday afternoons from about 5:30-6:00 pm at the church, led by yours truly. Casual. Thoughtful. Fun. Contact Rachael Casto or me if
interested. Planning for an "Authors and Artists" event - Friday, Oct. 5 @ 6:30 pm See below - a call for any authors or artists who would like to offer their work in this special event! We have a number of authors and artists "in residence" who
are eager to share their work with us and the public. At our recent planning meeting, we decided to hold the event on Friday, Oct. 5 in Friendship Hall starting at 6:30 pm for mingling and refreshments, followed by short talks at 7 pm by any authors and artists who would like to say anything about their work. Mark your calendars!
Next Meeting for our Big Benefit Fundraiser in FebruaryOur next planning meeting will be after church on Sunday, September 23. In the meantime, anyone can solicit donations from local businesses! Guess what?! This week we got that donation I
had mentioned from a beautiful historic resort in Tubac. It "pays" to ask! So... anyone willing to contact a local tire company? Or reach out to someone at the world-famous Desert Museum? It doesn't hurt to ask!
Thinking of you all with love and respect, Nathan

Service Project - Helping The Tucson Wildlife Center

GIVING OF OURSELVES TO OUR COMMUNITY "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’" Acts 20:35 (NIV)
Our
“Serve More People Team” has met several times discussing ways we and our church can serve others not only in our church, but also in our community. What better way to empower ourselves and show our love than to reach out to one of our neighbors, The Tucson Wildlife Center.
The Tucson Wildlife Center, located at almost the farthest East you can go on Speedway, is dedicated to the rescue, emergency medical care, and rehabilitation
of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife before return to the wild, while promoting education, habitat protection and peaceful coexistence with wildlife. They are Southern Arizona’s only state-of-the-art wildlife hospital running 24/7, 365 days a year, taking in nearly 3,500 animals a year, with operating costs approaching $1,000 a day for the medical treatment, care, feeding, and rehabilitation of native wildlife before they are ready to be returned to the wild.
There are many ways to help them through monetary donations, buying a "Dedication Brick", leaving a legacy, volunteering, etc. However, our church is doing something a little unique...
For the next 6 weeks, we are throwing a “shower” to help provide ongoing needed supplies from their “Wish List”. These wish
lists can be found in the church lobby... You can pick up an item on your next trip(s) to the grocery store. Pick up as much as you can of whatever you can and bring your items each week to church, depositing them in the boxes provided in the lobby.
If you have any questions, please contact Darleen Raulerson

Fundraising Gala Friday February 8, 2019
|
|
Location: La Mariposa Activity: Dinner + Dancing + Auction fundraising
event! NEW INFO: Congratulations! The Tubac Golf and Country Club has donated a one-night stay at their luxurious resort! That is an awesome addition to our auction items!
Donations received (or promised) so far are from: Westward Look Resort (overnight stay) Ace Hardware (22nd Street and Kolb) Frank Rose (painting) Gladden View AirBnB (overnight stay) Tubac Golf and Country Club
(overnight stay) HF Coors Pottery Face Painting gig
Our next planning meeting is Sunday,
September 23 after church. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to attend and join the fun.
Also, Gail B wants everyone to know that she is really counting on others to participate in soliciting donations from businesses. ANYONE CAN DO IT! The more donations, the more fun, and the more potential for funds!
It is helpful to take a copy of the “official” letter from the Pastor with you, and leave it with the appropriate person at the place of business. Copies of the letter and envelopes are on a table in the Chapel front lobby.
The idea of this gala is to provide a fun, social evening, including a meal, entertainment, and an auction of goods and services that a broad audience will bid on. This kind of event is not only fun, but it can also be morale-boosting as we work together on a common project. It can also be an opportunity to welcome friends and others who appreciate Sunrise Chapel. It will take collaboration and lots of planning to pull it off. The plan is to do a lot of preparation in the next couple of months since people get really busy in November and December; then pick up momentum again in January. Put a big star on Friday February 8, 2019. Consider it a big "date night" or some special event with family and friends. It's gonna be great! ~Nathan

Sunrise Chapel Relies on Donations
|
|
Please consider Sunrise Chapel in your charitable giving. Your dedication and support throughout the year is
invaluable. Summertime is typically a time of lower attendance at church activities, which is often reflected in decreased donations. Have you considered setting up a regular, automatic donation to the Chapel's general operating budget?
The PayPal button here is an option for one-time or monthly donation. If you write a check, make it to Sunrise Chapel.
Thank you from our Treasurer, Bill Smith

The Boundaries of Canaan Numbers 34:1-12 The Lord said to Moses, “Command the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance is to have these boundaries: “‘Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Zin along the border of Edom. Your southern boundary will start in the east from the southern end of
the Dead Sea, cross south of Scorpion Pass, continue on to Zin and go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon, where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea. “‘Your western boundary will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. “‘For your northern boundary, run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor and from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath. Then the boundary will go to Zedad, continue to Ziphron and end at Hazar
Enan. “‘For your eastern boundary, run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham. The boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee. Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea. “‘This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.’”
The Purpose of God’s Boundaries Acts
17:24-28 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him
and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’”
The Need for Design True Christianity 679 As anyone who traces effects back to their causes is in a position to know, the firm establishment of everything hinges on how it fits into the overall design… What would a city
be without a well-defined structure? For that matter, what would a household be?... What would the human body be like if all its large and small components were not precisely distinguished and arranged and their common existence was not dependent on one set of heart and lungs? What would the body be but mass confusion?... The design of each organ and the design of how they all interact with each other is what allows them all to come together and seem like one thing to us. Without a
precisely defined design, would the human mind or spirit be more than a confused, chaotic mush? “All things live, and move, and have their being in him and from him” [Acts 17:28].
“Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it."
