Dear Friends of Sunrise Chapel,
This is another special weekend: March 9 & 10. I strongly encourage you to consider attending some part of the events listed here.
Even if you only come once a month or once in a while, this weekend would be a GREAT one to show up and show your support for Sunrise Chapel.
Bishop Peter Buss Jr is visiting to get to know us!
Peter is our current Assistant Bishop and the incoming Executive Bishop when Brian Keith retires at the end of this June. Peter is very approachable and personable and is looking forward to getting to visit with as many people as he can. Peter’s wife, Teresa, and their daughter, Kayla, will also be here.
Here are four ways to consider being involved:
1. Saturday morning 10-11 am
For Board members and anyone interested in Board-related topics (including finances) at the church
2. Saturday afternoon 3-5 pm
Everyone is invited to a “Meet and Greet” at Kim and Claudias’ home
3. Arrange your own meeting with Peter
If you want to meet with Peter on your own, as a couple, or with a few others of your choice, I encourage you to take initiative and arrange such a meeting sometime on Saturday. You can contact me to arrange a time or call/text Peter directly on his cell phone 215-480-2546.
4. Sunday at 11 am and afterwards
Peter will also preach at the church service Sunday morning and then continue visiting at the luncheon and afterwards until about 3 pm.

This Sunday's Church
Service: "It Is Written"
|
From Bishop Peter Buss:
Joshua was called “to do according to all that was written” in the Book of the Law, that his way might be prosperous. Josiah reformed the whole kingdom when they found the Book of the Law and discovered they were not following its commands. The Lord repeatedly responded to the devil who tempted Him with the words, “It is written…” These stories consistently urge us to return to the Word and base our lives on the life-giving
truths recorded there. Our Sunday message will explore why this is so important.
Matthew 4
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”
Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’”
Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”
Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
True Christian Religion §347:2
The reason why faith is formed by a person learning truths from the Word is that faith essentially is truth; for all the ingredients of faith are truths. Thus faith is nothing but a collection of truths casting light in a person's mind. For truths teach not only that one should believe, but in whom one should believe and what one should believe. Truths must be taken from the Word, because it contains all the truths which lead to salvation.
De Verbo §14
Without the Word no one would know anything about the Lord, about love and faith, redemption, or any of the other secrets of heavenly wisdom. In fact, without the Word there would not be a heaven, just as in the world there would not be a church without the Word. Thus there would be no conjunction with the Lord.
