Turning a Blind Eye
I love what the Lord teaches about eyesight. Even blindness, though physically tragic, has so much to teach us spiritually. This Sunday, we will explore the value of NOT seeing, or in other words deliberately putting on blinders in order to keep our focus on what is most important.
In our current series on Spiritual Growth Tasks, this task is #22 in our card deck and also on www.choosejoynow.org.
This will be our final Sunday in this series of topics. Then comes Palm Sunday and Easter - already!
TONIGHT - Casual Social Opportunity with Music - Friday Apr 5
If you attended our Benefit Fundraiser in February, you got a nice introduction to the local band, "After 7". If you missed it, all the more reason to check this out! After 7 is playing again tonight at St. Philips Plaza, and a few church folks are gathering there for the fun of it. The event is from 7-11 pm. Help with Building Rentals, including an incentive
Sunrise Chapel is a wonderful place for meetings and special activities of many kinds. We really want to serve the community, and we can offer various spaces for less cost than most commercial places. Recently, one of our groups that has been using our Friendship Hall every Tuesday night for many years had to downsize and consolidate their classes at a different facility. This is a big loss of income for Sunrise
Chapel.
If you know any group or individual who is looking for a venue to hold classes, meetings, or special occasions, please refer them to Sunrise Chapel.
As an incentive, by Board approval, a referral fee will be offered to anyone for whom a referral turns into a booking! Talk to me or any Board member.
With love and respect,

Sunday's Church Service

Matthew 7:1-5
Jesus taught, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
Isaiah 42:18-20
“Hear, you deaf;
look, you blind, and see!
Who is blind but my servant,
and deaf like the messenger I send?
Who is blind like the one in covenant with me,
blind like the servant of the Lord?”
Apocalypse Explained §409 - Swedenborg
This quote from Isaiah 42 is said of the Lord, who in respect to His Divine Human is here called "a servant," because He served his Father by doing His will...
He is called "blind" and "deaf" because the Lord is as if He did not see and perceive the sins of people, for He leads gently, bending and not breaking, thus leading away from evils, and leading to good; therefore He does not chastise and punish, like one who sees and perceives.
It is therefore here meant that He as it were does not see, although He possesses the Divine truth from which He understands all things, and that He does not will according to what He perceives, although He has the Divine good, from which He is able to achieve all things.
