Getting Out of Prison
Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would bring good news to the poor, heal broken hearts, free captives and release prisoners from darkness (Isaiah 61:1). This Sunday, we will explore how we can get light in our darkness and experience greater freedom.
(In our current series on Spiritual Growth Tasks, this task is not in our card deck nor in one of the books, though we plan to include it in an upcoming deck.)
Guest Preacher - Frank Rose
This Sunday, March 31, Nathan & Elise will be out of town. Frank Rose graciously accepted my invitation to lead the service. He will continue the series of Spiritual Growth topics with a task called "Getting Out of Prison."
Help with Building Rentals, including an incentive
Sunrise Chapel is a wonderful place for meetings and special activities of many kinds. We really want to serve the community, and we can offer various spaces for less cost than most commercial places. Recently, one of our groups that has been using our Friendship Hall every Tuesday night for many years had to downsize and consolidate their classes at a different facility. This is a big loss of income for Sunrise Chapel.
If you know any group or individual who is looking for a venue to hold classes, meetings, or special occasions, please refer them to Sunrise Chapel.
As an incentive, by Board approval, a referral fee will be offered to anyone for whom a referral turns into a booking! Talk to me or any Board member.

Remembering Carmela
Our friend Carmela Barker entered the spiritual world this past Tuesday, March 26. She was active in Sunrise Chapel for many years, and many Sunrise Chapel members have fond memories of her in small groups and in the kitchen. Recently she had been in a care facility. She turned 93 last month. Years ago she had made arrangements for a niche and a plaque in our Memorial Garden on which is engraved “Wherever you go, I’ll be there.”
No memorial service is being planned by her family, but in her wishes, she invited anyone to honor her life with a donation to Sunrise Chapel.
Blessings to our dear Carmela!
With love and respect,

Psalm 142:7
Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.
Matthew 25:34-36
Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Secrets of Heaven §5096
People who succumb to falsity and especially to evil are said to be prisoners and in prison, not because they are actually chained but because they do not have freedom. Anyone who lacks freedom is inwardly imprisoned. After all, people who have proved a false idea to themselves no longer have any freedom to choose or accept the truth. Those who have proved it repeatedly do not even have the freedom to see truth, let alone acknowledge and believe it. They are convinced that falsity is true, and
truth, false. Conviction by its very nature removes all freedom of thinking otherwise and therefore keeps one’s very thoughts fettered in a kind of prison.
