I love returning to the stories in the Gospels when Jesus reappears to the disciples after his resurrection. Last week’s account of the Lord walking with two disciples on the road to Emmaus is one of my favorites - how their hearts were warmed as he unfolded the meaning of the Scriptures to them.
This Sunday's adventure is about the disciples going back to their old work—fishing—probably wondering what to do with their lives now that Jesus was gone. Once again, he had other plans for them! And it took another miraculous fishing experience for them to get it.
Come Enjoy Friendship, Good Food, Great Entertainment, and MORE!

Nathan & Elise Home from our Family Wedding
We had an absolutely wonderful time with our dear family and friends, including meeting our son-in-law's family and friends! Everything went very well, and the happy couple is already starting a new, exciting chapter of their lives.
Thank you, David Lindrooth
Thanks to David Lindrooth for leading the Sunday service while I was away last weekend. I heard that the church service went very well (except for the mysterious gremlins that infested the projector again!)
David met informally with Board members and guests after the luncheon. Several people mentioned to me that the meeting went very well. It was a healthy and educational session in which David was able to help everyone get perspective on the financial situation of Sunrise Chapel and the Central Financial Office as well.
It was also a special treat that David's wife, Aven, could travel with him this time. Welcome back, friends!
Please Consider a Fiscal-Year-End Donation to Sunrise Chapel's General Fund
As the end of our fiscal year draws near (June 30), our treasurer, Bill, reports that we are in need of a little over $6,000 to meet our budgeted income for the year. Some of that will come from our two fundraisers in February and May, but if you are able to donate or pledge to increase your donation between now and June 30, please do! Sunrise Chapel needs your help.
Thank you for your dedication and support of Sunrise Chapel's many uses.
With love and respect,

A Post-Easter Story
John 21:1-14
Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way: Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”
“No,” they answered.
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards. When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.
Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised
from the dead.
What would the Fish Say?
Job 12: 7-10, 13
Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you.
Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?
In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.
To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his.
Symbolism of Fish
Secrets of Heaven §991
In the Word, fish symbolize facts that rise out of sensory information.
There are three kinds of facts: facts truly understood, facts seen rationally, and facts coming from the senses. All three kinds are sown in the memory, or rather in different types of memory. In a regenerate person it is by way of the inner self that the Lord calls on them from the memory.
Being a Fisherman
Interaction of the Soul and Body §20
I was once asked how, from a philosopher, I became a theologian; and I answered, "In the same manner that fishermen were made disciples and apostles by the Lord. I also had from early youth been a spiritual fisherman".
On this, my questioner asked, "What is a spiritual fisherman?" I replied, "A fisherman, in the spiritual sense of the Word, signifies a person who investigates and teaches natural truths, and afterwards spiritual truths, in a rational manner".
