Good Friday
7 pm - Good Friday is our annual honoring of the Lord's last days on earth and the conclusion of all the work He did throughout His life. Through it all, He demonstrated in person how to experience a new birth, a resurrection. The service will focus on the meaning of the cross as spiritual trial and His story as an example of what He invites us to do. As Jesus said, "Take up your cross,
and follow Me." (Luke 9:23)
Easter Sunday Services AND Egg Hunt AND Luncheon Woohoo!
This Sunday we celebrate Easter with two services:
7 am Outdoors (This year it will be at the entrance to the Memorial Garden). This will be a simple, informal worship service just outside the Chapel. You are welcome to come early and walk the nearby labyrinth ahead of time, or walk it afterwards.
11 am In the Chapel. This Sunday we welcome a guest vocalist and song writer, Chelsea Odhner to sing her heart out for us. This will be a family style service with a blend of traditional and contemporary Easter hymns, a special reading from the Easter story, and one message for all ages.
12 noon An egg hunt for the kiddos and a fabulous Easter luncheon!
Y'all come!
Sunday, April 28 — Guest Preacher David Lindrooth, Regional Pastor

We will be away for a little less than a week, starting Tuesday night, April 23. While we are gone, David Lindrooth will lead the Sunday service on April 28. Please welcome him with your attendance and support! This will be the first time he will visit here in
his new role as Assistant Bishop.

Final Concert date
Friday, April 26 @ 7 pm – Northminster Presbyterian Church

Contact Art at 520-343-9029 for tickets or see him after services
Please Consider a Fiscal-Year-End Donation to Sunrise Chapel's General Fund
As the end of our fiscal year draws near (June 30), our treasurer, Bill, reports that we are in need of a little over $6,000 to meet our budgeted income for the year. Some of that will come from our two fundraisers in February and May, but if you are able to donate or pledge to increase your donation between now and June 30, please do! Sunrise Chapel needs your help.
If by some generous good fortune we happen to exceed the goal (which would be a very happy position!), the "extra" will be used in the general fund for the next fiscal year, beginning July 1. Thank you for your dedication and support of Sunrise Chapel's many uses.
With love and respect,

Come to Sunrise Chapel Friday, April 19 for a meditative worship service featuring the story of Good Friday
Each year, the chancel is decorated in a special way for this candlelight service. We hear readings from the Gospel story and also break bread to remember the Last Supper. It is a delightful, centering activity to consider the sacrifice that Jesus made in order to prepare us for Easter
Sunday.

A Prophecy of the LORD’S Presence
Isaiah 43:1-5
Thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior...
Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you...
Do not fear, for I am with you.”
The First Easter Morning
Matthew 28:1-8
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.
His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.
What Brings the Lord’s Presence
Secrets of Heaven §904 - Swedenborg
The degree of love we feel for our neighbor and of faith we have determines the extent to which the Lord can be described as present with us. The Lord is present in neighborly love because he is present in everything good, but he is not as present in so-called faith devoid of love.
Faith without love and charity is a detached or disconnected thing. Wherever there is union, there must be a uniting medium, and the only uniting medium is love and charity.
The Lord’s presence with us first becomes possible when we love our neighbor. Within love is the Lord, and so far as we have love, the Lord is present.
