How clear is your vision of Sunrise Chapel?

Believing is seeing with spiritual insight
As some of you know, I am fascinated by eyesight and the symbolism of the eyes. We will be singing some songs this Sunday that feature this theme. And let's explore together the meaning of vision as it shows up in the Bible as well as in science and the teachings of our church. When the Lord looks at us, what do His eyes look like, and what does He see? And when we, as a group of people, look at each other,
how can we see one another with the Lord's sight?
Thank you to Frank and Jeremy Rose for last Sunday's service!
While Elise and I were visiting family and friends in Philadelphia and Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, Frank led the service here and Jeremy presented the sermon. Special thanks also to Sammie A. for working with me in the Chapel (as I gave her instructions remotely) to get the live stream working. A collaborative effort!
An historic first for our live streaming efforts!
Last Sunday's service was our first successful attempt to live stream the Sunday service. You can view it on our You Tube channel, SunriseChapelLive. Try searching for it on You Tube, and then subscribe to receive updates. As things continue to develop, I plan to post a link to the event so that, if you want, you can get a reminder when the service is about to
start. For the most part, the services will be archived on the same You Tube channel so that you can watch them later.
Our Annual Church Meeting will be held this Sunday, June 9
Please see more details below. Consider coming and participating in this important meeting during the luncheon after the church service on Sunday, June 9.
The nominating committee reports that there are just two positions on the Board of Trustees that need to be filled this year - the Chairman, and the Secretary. Jack Baty is being nominated to fill the Chairman position since Alex Waddell's two 2-year terms are up, and Linda Waddell is being nominated to continue her second term as Secretary. We need a quorum of members to vote.
Please Consider a Fiscal-Year-End Donation to Sunrise Chapel's General Fund
As the end of our fiscal year draws near (June 30), our treasurer, Bill Smith, is crunching numbers to provide a report at the upcoming Annual Meeting on June 9. Sunrise Chapel receives generous grants from various places for various specific projects, but the bottom line is that Sunrise Chapel's General
Fund must cover the difference between the grants we receive and our expenses. The General Fund needs your financial support, especially before the end of June. Any additional donations actually will make a difference.
You can make a PayPal donation anytime from our website page: sunrisechapel.org/donate/
Feel free to speak to Bill directly or any Board member for more information.
Thank you for your dedication and support of Sunrise Chapel's many uses.
With love and respect,

This is what we call the "monument sign" that stands as a welcome to all who come onto the property
The circle at the top can have various meanings. The sun. Community. Infinity. Openness. A simple white cross at the base of the monument indicates this is a Christian Church - not just the building, but the congregation of people who worship the Lord
here.
THANK YOU for sharing your love, your friendship, your creativity and talents, your interest in spiritual growth, and your willingness to support the variety of activities that happen in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the sake of His church in this section of the
globe.
Annual "Church" Meeting
Each year the legal By-Laws of the church as a non-profit corporation require us to hold an Annual Congregational Meeting with a quorum of members. This year our meeting will be Sunday, June 9 starting at 12:15 pm, during the luncheon. There are two main items of business: 1) Election of officers and
trustees and 2) Approval of the coming year's budget. There will also be a few reports on progress as well as explanations of plans for the coming year.
I hope you can participate and that you will consider it time well spent as we consider, together, how to implement the Lord's will for the growth of His church in our hearts, minds, and lives.
With love and respect,
Nathan

Do we have your
up-to-date contact information?
|
|
We're updating our printed directory of members and friends. This is an important resource so we can keep in touch with one another.
There is a current copy in the Chapel lobby for your updates.
If your contact information is already in the directory, make sure your listing is up-to-date and correct.
If you would like to add contact information, there is a clipboard in the Chapel lobby for you to write what you want included.
You can also email information to elisegladish@gmail.com
Please note that all the information in our directory is for community-building as a group of church members and friends, not for use in solicitations.

Arizona Mountain
Camp - July 9-14
|
|
This photo shows the patio outside the dining hall and kitchen at the Elks Youth Camp. We look forward to being there again this summer. It's a trek, 40 miles north of Globe, AZ, in the mountains just northeast of Lake Roosevelt. This camp has good creature-comforts for
all ages, and it is very affordable. There will also be some financial assistance for those who need it. We don’t want money to keep anyone away.
SCHEDULE: The first full day of camp will be Wednesday, July 10 and the final day will be Sunday, July 14. (Tuesday, July 9 will be the set-up day.)
The site is owned and managed by the Arizona Elks Lodge to benefit children. Last year was our first time there, and people loved it.
Anyone is invited to be part of the planning team. Linda Waddell and Christine Morey have once again offered to organize meal planning and preparation. Yay!
There will be opportunities for worship, small groups, and plenty of down time to enjoy friendships in the peace and quiet of this lovely mountain forest.
We expect to welcome friends from our sister church in Phoenix this year!

The Promise of God’s Presence
Exodus 33:12-17
Then Moses said to the Lord, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’ Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”
And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”
So the Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.”
Finding Grace in God’s Sight
Secrets of Heaven §10,569
When the words 'in the Lord’s eyes' are used the meaning is the Lord's Divine presence within the truths and forms of the good of faith and love residing with people on earth and with angels in heaven.
The origin of this sight must also be stated. A real light exists that enlightens the understanding, altogether distinct and separate from the light which enables the eyes of the body to see. The light which enlightens the understanding comes from heaven, whereas that which enables the eyes of the body to see exists in the world. The light of heaven flows from the Lord there and is essentially Divine Truth emanating from the Lord's Divine Good. So, in the Word, when "the eyes" are
attributed to God or Jehovah, the Lord's Divine presence is meant.
The Lamp of the Body
Luke 11:33-36
Jesus said, “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full
of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”
The Symbolism of the Eye
Secrets of Heaven §9051
The eye corresponds to the understanding; for the understanding sees in the light of heaven, but the eye sees in the light of the world. The things that the former eye, that is, the understanding, sees are spiritual, and its field of vision is the factual knowledge contained in the person's memory. But the things which the physical eye sees are earthly, and its field of vision consists in every object that appears in the world.
