Photo: Mary, the mother of Jesus greets Elizabeth, the mother of John
Mothers and love go together. There's an inborn tendency for mothers to love their children. And, by observation, I can say that mothers who are maturing spiritually also continue to develop their love consciously and deliberately. There are always exceptions, because all mothers are human and all humans stumble on their way to becoming more loving and wise. So, part of loving mothers is realizing that no
mother is undeserving of our love, kindness, and generosity.
This Sunday, help us honor and raise up the love the Lord offers us all, especially as evidenced in mothers and all women.
See below for a beautiful quotation about the nature of love and how we can receive it from the Lord in our own unique ways.

New Financial Request Granted!
This week I got the excellent news that the grant I submitted in January to the Glencairn Foundation was approved! Not only that, but because of generous local and distant friends, we already have pledges to cover the $3,000 match! I am amazed and pleased. The grant is for $27,000, meaning that we will have $30,000 to devote to the projects itemized in the request. The projects revolve around continuing to
improve our welcome and reaching out to invite people so that we can serve them with what we offer. In other words - "promotion and marketing." I will need people to help research and implement various parts of the itemized projects, so if you are interested in learning more, contact me, and I will be happy to share more details! ~Nathan
Please Consider a Fiscal-Year-End Donation to Sunrise Chapel's General Fund
The new grant referenced above does not go to operating expenses. As the end of our fiscal year draws near (June 30), our treasurer, Bill, reports that we are projected to need a little over $6,000 to meet our budgeted income for the year. Some of that will come from our two fundraisers in February and May, but if you are able to donate or pledge to increase your donation between now and June 30, please do! Sunrise Chapel needs your help.
Thank you for your dedication and support of Sunrise Chapel's many uses.
With love and respect,

The Goal of Love
Secrets of Heaven §1013
The essential nature of love and kindness is to form something like a single entity out of two things. When we love another as ourselves—and more than ourselves—we see the other in ourselves and ourselves in the other. Anyone can recognize this simply by observing love, or people who love one another. The will of one is the will of the other; they seem to be deeply bound together; only their bodies are distinct from each other.
Love for the Lord makes us one with him, or makes us his likeness. Charity—love for our neighbor—does too, but it makes us the Lord’s image. An image is not a likeness of something but is in the likeness of that thing.
This oneness rising out of love is something the Lord himself describes in John:
I pray that they may all be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they too may be one in us. I have given them the glory that you have given me, so that they can be one as we are one—I in them and you in me. (John 17:21, 22, 23)
This oneness is the mystical union that some people contemplate—a union achieved only through love.
In the same author:
I live and you will live; on that day you will know that I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you. Whoever has my commandments and does them, that is the person who loves me. If any love me, they will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make a home in them. (John 14:19, 20, 21, 23)
These things show that love is what binds together, and that the Lord has a home in those who love him and who love their neighbor (since loving our neighbor is loving the Lord).
