What does it mean to trust in God?

I love the innocent trust these two boys display in this photo
What does it take to trust? Is trust largely intellectual or primarily emotional? What does it mean to trust in God? What were the founders of our nation thinking when they printed "In God we trust" on our currency? This Sunday we'll explore the ideas around trusting in divine love and wisdom and God's providence.
Arizona Mountain Camp is next week!
Our awesome head cook and kitchen organizer, Linda, is busily working behind the scenes to provide for delicious meals for all. She and Christine and a few helpers will go up to the Youth Camp on Tuesday to set up and prepare. All other campers are welcome to come up any time Wednesday for the first full day of camp. Please let me or Elise know your arrival and departure plans, and we will convey the information to Linda and
Christine.
See below for more details.
THANK YOU - We made it!
With everyone’s help, as of last Sunday, the final day of our fiscal year, we met our financial goal for balancing last year’s budget. This is no small accomplishment for our congregation. We can’t take for granted the effort to keep “church” going. It requires vision, dedication, hard work, patience, focus, and sacrifice.
Although fundraising is a temporal concern, regular gifting represents a thoughtful, steady continuation of personal love.
Mother Teresa once wrote, “Don't think that love, to be true, has to be extraordinary. What is necessary is to continue to love. How does a lamp burn, if it is not by the continuous feeding of little drops of oil? Dear friends, what are our drops of oil in our lamps? They are the small things from every day life: the joy, the generosity, the little good things, the humility and the patience. A simple thought for
someone else. Our way to be silent, to listen, to forgive, to speak and to act. They are the real drops of oil that make our lamps burn vividly our whole life. Don't look for Jesus far away, He is not there. He is in you, take care of your lamp and you will see Him."
To “be” the church is for each of us to take care of our lamps so that together we can see the Lord in the ordinary activities of our lives. Thank you for your contributions of time, talent, and treasure. Every single gift matters, because every single one of you matters!
Learning the ins and outs of live streaming
We are continuing to explore the world of live streaming. As we climb the learning curve, please be patient and stay tuned. The biggest challenges have to do with balancing the sound between the vocal microphones and the musical instruments. We have a good camera that has been working very well for months, but we are still sorting out the best system for connecting it to our YouTube channel.
In the meantime, new speakers have been installed in the Chapel, which really improves the sound in the room. Thank you to the Bob and Bar Carlson Memorial Fund for the purchase of this brand new equipment.
You can view this Sunday's stream on our You Tube channel, SunriseChapelLive. Try searching for it on You Tube, and then subscribe to receive updates. For the most part, the services will be archived on the same You Tube channel so that you can watch them later. Please let
me know if you are using the feature and send me any feedback or questions.

Here is a photo looking from the parking area to the dining hall on the left and the bathrooms on the right.
Since last year, solar panels have been installed, which allows us to have lights on anytime, and reduces the need for the generators. Yay! The camp also has a brand new freezer, which will make the cooks (and the diners) very happy!
We have a detailed map. The camp is high in the mountains a bit northeast of Phoenix. If you know where Roosevelt Lake is, the camp is about 45 minutes up the mountain, northeast of the Lake. There is an active wildfire to the south and west of Roosevelt Lake, but it doesn't affect our camp. However, since it is
so dry in the area, there will be no campfires allowed.
The registration forms and other information are available at the church. Let me (Nathan) know if you want me to email you copies.
This camp has good creature-comforts for all ages, and it is very affordable. There will also be some financial assistance for those who need it. We don’t want money to keep anyone away.
SCHEDULE: The first full day of camp will be Wednesday, July 10 and the final day will be Sunday, July 14. (Tuesday, July 9 will be the set-up day.)
The site is owned and managed by the Arizona Elks Lodge to benefit children. Last year was our first time there, and people loved it.
Anyone is invited to be part of the planning team. Linda Waddell and Christine Morey have once again offered to organize meal planning and preparation. Yay!
There will be opportunities for worship, small groups, and plenty of down time to enjoy friendships in the peace and quiet of this lovely mountain forest.
We expect to welcome friends from our sister church in Phoenix this year!

Trust within Peace
Secrets of Heaven §8455
In the Bible, morning is a state of peace... resembling the dawn on earth, which gladdens and delights all minds. Truth that comes of peace is like the light at dawn.
This truth, which I am calling peaceful truth, is divine truth itself from the Lord as it exists in heaven. It affects everyone there, without exception, and makes heaven heavenly. Within peace, you see, lies trust in the Lord: trust that he is in complete charge, takes care of everything, and leads it to a good ending. When we believe this, we are at peace, because we then fear nothing and have no worries about the future to disturb us. The more we love the Lord, the more we enter this
state.
