What are you grateful for?

I love gratitude - not just receiving it, but sharing it
There is so much evidence that an attitude of gratitude is healthful and nurturing. Join us for this 2-part series in preparation for Thanksgiving as we explore the value and practice of gratefulness.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and counsel one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. Colossians 3:15,16

Continuing: "Sunrise Chapel 101" aka New Church Foundations Small Group
We are continuing to meet on Wednesdays at 2 pm for at least one more week. This Wednesday's topic will be the history of the New Church in general and an overview of Sunrise Chapel's history in particular.
Anyone interested in these topics is welcome to join the meeting. We meet in the small group room off the Chapel lobby.
With love and respect,

ANNOUNCING:
Special Church Meeting & Special Guest - this Sunday November 17
|
Our Semi-annual Sunrise Chapel meeting for all members and friends will be held this Sunday, November 17 during the luncheon. We are required by our Arizona Corporate By-Laws to have two such meetings a year, and our semi-annual meeting is held in the Fall.
Special Guest - David Frazier
I am happy to welcome Mr. David Frazier, a key administrator from our denominational headquarters in Bryn Athyn, PA. His title is Executive Director. We have revised his meeting schedule. He will attend our church service and our semi-annual meeting this Sunday, Nov. 17 so that he can get to know us and we can get to know him. Then he will meet with our local
Board of Directors on Sunday after the semi-annual meeting. Would you like to meet with him one-on-one? Please contact me or David directly to set up an appointment.

Thank you to our volunteers in the sound booth every Sunday for helping make our livestream happen. We are finding that it is a long learning curve to get all the sound levels tuned, so thank you for your patience. And please give me input based on your listening experience.
If you subscribe to our YouTube channel, you can get an alert when we go live on Sunday morning. If you bookmark the link in your favorite browser, you can also easily view any available archived service anytime.
There is really no substitute for worshiping together in person with all the nuances of community, personal connection, and interaction, but modern technology does provide a great window into the experience.

The Lord’s Promise to Abram
Genesis 13:1-4, 14-17
Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him. Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.
From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the Lord...
After Lot parted from Abram, the Lord said to Abram, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever... Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Send for Him
Mark 3:31-35
Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”
“Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.
Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
Divine Providence §27 Swedenborg
Spiritual love, by its own nature, wants to share what it has with others, and to the extent that it can do so, it is totally present, experiencing its peace and bliss. Spiritual love gets this quality from the Lord’s divine love, which is like this in infinite measure.
It then follows that divine love (and therefore divine providence) has the goal of a heaven made up of people who have become angels and are becoming angels, people with whom it can share all the bliss and joy of love and wisdom, giving them these blessings from the Lord’s own presence within them. He cannot help doing this, because his image and likeness is in us from creation. His image in us is wisdom and his likeness in us is love.
