The Third Sunday of Advent - Love

Innocence and Vulnerability - part 3
Being innocent and vulnerable is risky. We risk being mistreated, scorned, laughed at, and unloved. But opening up our hearts and minds to others also brings possibilities for deep and abiding connections that are worth the risk.
The Lord took a huge risk by coming into the world. And the prophecies of His enemies mistreating, scorning, laughing at and hating Him all came true. But He also opened His heart and mind to us to show us a new way to reconnect with the Divine love and wisdom that's always been there.
This Sunday, we'll continue exploring the Lord's vulnerable love and how taking risks to be loving like Christ loves us can make a difference in our daily lives.
Another awesome Path to Bethlehem last Saturday!
This was our 15th Path! Amazing! Thank you to everyone for helping us give this beautiful, heartwarming Christmas gift to our community!
Next Sunday, December 22 will be a special service of favorite hymns
Come enjoy a song fest of Christmas tunes and testimonials about why they are loved. This will be the fourth Sunday of Advent, with a focus on JOY!

THE DRAWING FOR THE JIM CLICK RAFFLE WAS TODAY
As representatives of the Arizona Spiritual Growth Foundation and Sunrise Chapel, Kelly and I were "choosing joy" at the drawing this morning for the Millions for Tucson Raffle! Here is a photo of Jim Click personally calling one of the winners of the three prizes in front of an audience of about 200 others. You can see the
huge basket of tickets in the background. Just three were picked, but this fundraiser helped about 150 local non profit organizations raise over 1.1 million dollars this year!
Kelly, Carol, and I are amazed and thrilled with your participation in this fundraiser! I had conservatively imagined raising $400, but in fact we sold over 100 tickets for a total of about $2,400!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our causes by buying tickets for the Jim Click Raffle!

A Prophecy of the Lord’s Coming
Isaiah 40:1-5
Comfort, comfort my people,
says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and proclaim to her
that her hard service has been completed,
that her sin has been pardoned,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
double for all her sins.
A voice of one calling:
“In the wilderness prepare
the way for the Lord;
make straight in the desert
a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be raised up,
every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain.
And the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
and all people will see it together.
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
A Prophecy about John the Baptist
Luke 1:67-80
When John the Baptist was born, his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:...
“You, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
Preparing a Way for the Lord’s Love
Revelation Explained §405 Swedenborg
“A voice of one calling: ‘In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low.’”
This treats of the Lord's coming and… that we should prepare to receive the Lord… "Every valley shall be raised up" signifies that all who are humble in heart, that is, all who are in goods and truths, are received and raised up to heaven. "Every mountain and hill shall be made low" signifies that all who are egocentric, in the loves of selfishness and worldliness, shall be put down.

Livestream and Archive Videos of our 11 am
Worship Services
|
Thank you to our volunteers in the sound booth every Sunday for helping make our livestream happen. We are finding that it is a long learning curve to get all the sound levels tuned, so thank you for your patience. And please give me input based on your listening experience.
If you subscribe to our YouTube channel, you can get an alert when we go live on Sunday morning. If you bookmark the link in your favorite browser, you can also easily view any available archived service anytime.
There is really no substitute for worshiping together in person with all the nuances of community, personal connection, and interaction, but modern technology does provide a great window into the experience.
