This Sunday, I will again livestream our church service
Our 11 o'clock service will be livestreamed using our YouTube channel (see below for links). I will conduct this service in the Chapel, but with only several people in the room and with careful physical distancing. This is within the spirit and the letter of the Governor's Executive Order for April since we are not having any in-person gatherings, and we are simply keeping our "business" - our "service" -
running. The church is obviously very quiet these days, but I am just as busy as ever with a lot of behind-the-scenes work and daily communication.
Also, after the service, starting at NOON (Arizona time), I will host a Zoom meeting for anyone who wants to join remotely. We had a lovely meeting last Sunday with 20 people altogether. It was wonderful to see each other and connect. Hop on the call and say Hi! See below for instructions.
This Sunday is Palm Sunday
I invite you to do a little prep ahead of time
Before our Sunday time together, I encourage you first, to get out your Bible and have it on hand. Secondly, find an item you can use to "enact" the Palm Sunday experience, and also have it on hand for the interactive portion of the service. Here are a few options:
- a palm frond if you have one on your property
- or a small leafy branch of any kind
- or an "outer garment" like a sweater, a fleece, or a scarf
- or make yourself a palm branch out of paper and crafts
- or use a photo of a palm branch from a magazine or book
During the livestream service, I'll invite everyone to lift your own palms and then to lay them down in some special place at your home, perhaps underneath your copy of the Bible, to give honor to the Lord and welcome him into our lives.
Finally, I encourage you to take a photo, perhaps a selfie, of your Palm Sunday enactment and send it to me Sunday afternoon at nathan@sunrisechapel.org. Or you can send it directly to gced@newchurch.org. Someone at our central offices will be compiling all the photos from congregations around the globe into a video that will be shared on
newchurch.org. Nice!

Zoom meeting after church Sunday, April 5 at NOON
This Sunday, soon after the livestream church service on You Tube, I will be hosting our second Zoom meeting for any Sunrise Chapel member or friend to attend. The purpose of this meeting is a "care call" to check in with each other as a church community, say hello, share a little, and talk about how we can serve in this strange and unprecedented health crisis while maintaining physical distancing and
other health mandates.
If you are familiar with Zoom, you know what to do. The link is below and the Meeting ID (if you need it).
If you are UNFAMILIAR with Zoom, here’s a link to PRACTICE being in a meeting. (No one else will be in the practice meeting.) Anytime, on your computer or smartphone, go to https://zoom.us/test and select “Join a test meeting.” Follow the prompts. Depending on your device, you may be
prompted to download an app, if your device can accept it. You may have other options. Once you get the test meeting started, you can play with your setup, including adjusting your camera or lighting so you can be seen; and you can find the buttons to mute your microphone and camera. When you are finished with the test, look for a button to “Leave meeting” or just close the window or app.
What to do on Sunday:
AFTER the service ends, we will take a little break. Get a snack, if you want. Take time to send in a photo of your Palm Sunday enactment (see above).
Then at NOON, join the Zoom meeting with either the link or the phone-in instructions below.
If you need the Meeting ID, it is: 414 341 900
If you ONLY want to call in (without your computer or video), use any one of these phone numbers and follow the prompts. You will have to enter the Meeting ID. You will be able to listen and talk (but you won’t see anyone and no one will see you).

Care Calls - Phone a Friend!
This is an important time for us all to stay in touch with each other, and there's nothing like having a good, old-fashioned friendly phone call. I encourage you to reach out by phone and chat. If you need new contact information for someone, let me know, and I'll do my best to provide it.
Also, I'm updating the Sunrise Chapel phone directory
I'll be sending it out by email and by USPS as soon as I get any additional input from anyone whose contact information needs updating. Please let me know ASAP. You can email or text or call me with any updates or preferences.
