This Friday - "Good Friday Worship Service" at 7 pm
Through our You Tube livestreaming channel (see below), I will offer an informal worship service this Friday starting at 7:00 pm. It will be a quiet, reflective time of reading parts of the Easter story, followed by the Holy Supper, which you can take on your own at home.
Preparing for the Good Friday Service
I invite you to prepare by setting up a special place of your own where you might have a copy of the Bible as well as some bread and wine (or other elements that you have available).
During the service, when I take the bread and wine, I also invite you to take them too. This will be followed by prayer.
If you want, you can make your own unleavened bread. Here is a recipe that Elise and I use (for a small amount).
Recipe for Unleavened Bread for Holy Supper
1/4 cup of flour (preferably from whole wheat meal).
a pinch of salt
1 tablespoon of olive oil (or other oil)
2-3 teaspoons of cold water (enough to make it stick together )
(Note: The amounts of the ingredients vary depending on conditions to get the bread to stick together. Don’t worry about that - it is an ancient recipe that predates modern measuring cups, etc.)
Press onto a cookie sheet or into a pie pan.
Bake at 400 degrees for about 6-8 minutes.
As for the wine, any simple red grape wine is suitable for representing what the Lord shared with his disciples.
THIS SUNDAY IS EASTER!
This Easter we will only have one service which will be broadcast via You Tube from the Chapel this Sunday at 11 am.
Normally we have an early service outdoors, but this year is the exception because of physical distancing mandates and common sense efforts to reduce the infection rate of COVID-19. See below for the You Tube link.
Although it is indeed strange not to be meeting in person for one of the most special services of the year, I will be livestreaming a service at 11 am from the Chapel (inside), and I welcome you to join online!
Zoom with me at Noon on Easter Sunday
I will do another Zoom call this Sunday (Easter) at noon for anyone who wants to hop on and check in. It's casual and a nice follow-up to the worship service.
A note about managing Zoom security
The way I understand Zoom, as long as the meeting information is private, meaning that it is not shared on a website or social media, then there is very little or no security issue. But for the sake of security, I am also adding a "waiting room" which you will enter until I as the leader "let you in". Also, as the meeting manager, if there is any suspicious activity, I can block it.
With love and respect and prayers for everyone's well-being, physically and spiritually,
